KRISTEN’S STORY

New Care was not the first home healthcare agency involved with Kristen’s care. Before New Care, we had tried two others, but we were not satisfied with the quality of care they provided. New Care was so far superior in every way! Not only did they provide well-trained, highly professional nurses, but ones who were also able to “connect” with our non-verbal daughter with warmth, humor, and kindness.

Not only did they contribute to the extension of her life beyond her doctors’ expectations, but, more importantly, they contributed immeasurably to her quality of life.

With few exceptions, the nurses on Kristen’s team stayed on for many years. We attributed this to the care with which New Care selected nurses, the skill with which they matched them to clients, and the support given to them all along the way to maximize retention. It has always seemed clear to us that New Care truly has its “heart” in the right place, and that must come from the top down.

Never was this more abundantly clear than during the final few weeks of our daughter’s life, when insurance refused to extend our hours just when we needed it the most. Exhausted from a continuous string of nights with no sleep, I received a call from Jamie, informing me that New Care intended to provide all the extra hours we needed – with or without reimbursement.

We will always be deeply indebted to New Care and the wonderful nurses who provided such highly competent and loving care to our precious girl for the last decade of her life.
